Australia is well known for their superb woods and Red Mallee is considered one of their best! This heavily burled wood is dense and generally has a twisting grain, varied color, and tight eyes. The heartwood ranges from dark pink to orangish red with some having a pale yellow to grayish sapwood. It's very popular, turns well, and looks awesome! As with all burls, there may be small voids.
